Root Canal Therapy

– – – – –

If the nerve inside your tooth becomes infected or injured, a root canal may be necessary to save the tooth. Root canal therapy is the process of removing the infected nerve.

If left untreated, the infection can spread to adjacent teeth, other parts of the mouth, or even cause life threatening complications. The root canals are carefully cleaned, disinfected, shaped and then filled with a rubber-based material to prevent re-infection.

Once it is clear the root canal has been a success, a permanent crown is recommended to seal the tooth and allow you to function normally.

Root canal therapy may be necessary if you exhibit the following symptoms:

  • Lingering sensitivity to hot or cold foods.
  • Pain in the tooth while biting or chewing.
  • Abscess or boil on the gums.
  • Severe toothache made worse at night.
  • Silent, chronic infection only detected on X-rays.

Dr. Jang has extensive knowledge and experience performing root canal procedures. Sometimes the procedure is spread over two visits, and in most cases it is under one hour long.

Contact us today if you are experiencing any of the above symptoms. It is important to quickly see a dentist to minimize pain and further damage.
