For more than five decades, Gosford Family Dentists has been a trusted name in dental care on the Central Coast. As one of the region’s longest operating dental practices, we’ve built a reputation for exceptional service, clinical excellence, and a warm, community-focused approach.
The history of Gosford Family Dentists
When Gosford Family Dentists first opened its doors in the early 1970s, Gosford was a bustling retail hub. The town was alive with activity, with landmarks like the Imperial Centre, built in 1971, and Woolworths Family Centre, built in 1970, drawing crowds each week. Families filled the streets during late-night shopping and weekends at Marketown, which opened in 1979. Amid this lively atmosphere, the practice established itself as a cornerstone of the growing local community of around 73,000 residents.
From the beginning, the practice focused on high-quality dental care, honesty, and genuine connection. Generations of families have since come through our doors, some of whom have been visiting for more than 40 years. This strong local legacy remains a point of pride for our team.
Dr Jake Jang and Malina Phalome at the helm
When the previous owner began planning for retirement in 2015, he sought a successor who would uphold the same values and commitment to patients. He found that in Dr Jake Jang, a highly skilled dentist with deep ties to the Central Coast. Dr Jake’s calm, compassionate manner and dedication to providing the best possible care made him the ideal fit to carry the legacy forward.
Following his purchase of the practice, Dr Jake and Practice Manager Malina Phalome brought fresh energy and modernisation to the clinic. In 2016, they renovated the 1 William Street location to create a warm, welcoming environment where patients feel relaxed and supported. The redesign introduced modern treatment rooms, state-of-the-art equipment, and a comfortable reception area, reflecting their shared belief that great dentistry begins with patient comfort and trust.
Dr Jake’s experience spans cosmetic dentistry, root canal therapy, wisdom teeth removal, and implant dentistry. He’s completed advanced studies through the Brener Implant Institute, mastering the art of implant and bone grafting procedures. His commitment to ongoing professional development ensures patients benefit from the latest techniques and technologies. In 2024, Gosford Family Dentists was recognised as an Invisalign Diamond Provider, a reflection of the clinic’s excellence in orthodontic care.
Malina, with over a decade of experience in dentistry and business administration, brings warmth and professionalism to every patient interaction. She ensures the clinic operates seamlessly while fostering the family-like atmosphere that has become a hallmark of the practice.
